Country Casualty

We left Arizona Friday afternoon, later than I planned, which is usually the case, and drove straight on to Idaho. The girls were good as always and we made it with only 2 pit stops. My kids are awesome!! We got to my parents house around 3:00AM. The girls were excited to be here and everyone seemed to catch a second wind. I think we all finally went to bed around 4:30.

Saturday we mostly hung out at in the house and recovered from our trip. It’s been raining here for the past three weeks, so everything is lush, green, and beautiful. Usually by this time of year, things are starting to turn brown and yellow. I’ve taken some great pix (click here). I took Mercedez to town to get a few things for camp. She left on Monday for 4-H camp.

It was in Alpine, WY for 3 days for 8-11 year olds. She had a fantastic time and met a lot of new friends. She’s already excited to go next year. Anyhow, we got her a few pairs of pants and some shoes, then loaded her up with snacks and candy since you can’t got camping with out pleanty of surgary treats.

Monday Boston and Hunter were getting ready to ride the 4-wheelers with grandpa. I was in the kitchen when Hunter came in and said, “You’re not going to like this, come see.” I assure you, no mom wants to hear those words… I followed her outside and saw the 1st casualty of the summer:

Boston was on the 4-wheeler waiting for grandpa. It was running and in reverse, so when she hit the gas, she also hit my van… Total bummer. My lease is up in October and I was so close to turning it in in pretty good shape. I’ll have to get this fixed before I trade it for something else. Boston was pretty upset about it. She cried big tears and told me how sorry she was then gave me a big hug. There was nothing else to do but hug her back. I told her that she couldn’t drive the big one and that she needed to not push buttons when she wasn’t supposed too.  Of course she promised that she wouldn’t, but I know better.

So far we’ve had a great time. I would like it to dry up a little though. We’d like to get a garden planted and I want to move some rocks up on my hill, just for fun. I’m hoping that a project like that would get the girls excited about “our mountain”. I’ll keep you posted on that.
